/ The Remixes - Joey Negro And The Sunbust Band

*The Sunburst Band* released their third album ‘Moving With The Shakers’
in May 2008, which has been a consistently strong seller and was widely
regarded as the best cd of the year on the modern soul/jazz funk scene.
The Band have built up a strong following with a sound that has been
compared to *Earth Wind and Fire* and* Jamiroquai *and style that
combines the great feel good vibes of boogie and disco but putting them
in a modern setting. This double cd collects together the best remixes
of songs from the previous 3 albums (many of which were vinyl only) by
the likes of *Dennis Ferrer, Henrik Schwarz, Milton Jackson, IG Culture,
Yam Who, Grant Nelson, Simon Grey, Audiowhores, Electrons, Idjut Boys*,
and *Joey Negro* himself - as well as adding brand new reworks from
*Cool Million, Recloose, Kaje Trackheads, DJ Meme, Domu *and *The
Revenge *that are exclusive to the package. The band are playing out
regularly with gigs at Croatia’s garden party festival and the Beechdown
Festival in Brighton, as well as Ronnie Scotts confirmed for the summer

Where as the bands sound is generally very organic with live
instrumentation aplenty, these remixes are more electronic and
synthersized - ranging from deep, techy, broken beat, to straight up
disco house and downtempo boogie

Forming in 1998, *The Sunburst Band* is a collective born out of
passion. “It’s not like I’m the guy who harps on that it was so much
better back in ’78,’” says Dave Lee aka Joey Negro with a smile, “but at
the same time I’m a bit of a polar resistor who goes against the flow.
When my mates were buying The Clash and Cocteau Twins, I was into D
Train and Funkadelic. Similarly now as so many dance acts are making
electro I’ve gone the other way with this project. I’ve missed the
performance thing, the intensity of a band playing together. Rock and
indie have never moved away from the guitar and drums sound, whereas
dance (be it R&B or house) tends to be mainly programmed. And it’s not
that I have a problem with that, I just wanted to do something that I
don’t hear too often nowadays.”

The release of debut album ‘Here Comes The Sunburst Band’ won critical
acclaim with both old school heads as well as nu breed disco and house
fans. Tracks like ‘Garden of Love’ and ‘Delicious’ became scene
classics, championed by DJs from *Pete Tong* to *4 Hero* to *Dimitri
from Paris*. The follow-up ‘Until The End of Time’ featured cuts like
‘Far Beyond’ which all the top US hip hop guys still spin, and soul
anthem ‘Everyday – a favourite with *Annie Mac, Trevor Nelson* and even
*Heston Blumenthal, *who included it as one of his ‘Desert Island Discs’
on Radio 4. The third album, ‘
