18-30’s holiday capital -
and rightly so! With it’s outrageous night-life and vibrant atmosphere,
San Antonio is the ideal place for people who expect that little bit
more bang for their buck. Not for the faint hearted, the action goes
on all day, everyday.
Drinking contests, wet t-shirt competitions, beach games, bare flesh
and alcohol fuelled karaoke are just some of the attractions (!?!)
on offer. Aquaparks and sports facilities are also within easy distance,
all helping ensure there will never be a dull moment. Although San
Antonio’s lager swilling reputation is well deserved, that isn’t
a negative point against it - however for the slightly more meek among
us it can all get a bit intimidating.
Behind the bright lights and loud noise, there is still a lot to be found in
San Antonio. The beaches are clean and well maintained but usually busy (see
our Beaches section). Come evening,
hordes head towards the sunset strip to watch the absolutely stunning sunsets.
Simply select the café of your choice and a nice cocktail and settle
back and enjoy the final few moments of calm before night falls and the madness
begins!
Accommodation is cheap and cheerful and you're never far away from
the decent clubs and bars.
Most notably the legendary Café Del Mar, however many new bars
have sprung up in recent years, including Café Mambo and Coastline,
and they are proving a huge success (found a short walk round the coast).
The music policy is chilled until nightfall, which is perfect for ensuring
you’ve still got energy left as you sip your cocktail and watch
the sun slowly set. It doesn't last long though - as the sun goes down,
the pre-parties start (a good place to get money off vouchers - some
clubs are expensive). |
